[News] Psy's 'Gentleman' Passes 400 Million Mark, YouTube All-Time Top 16

Psy's music video of "Gentleman" has passed the next landmark at 400 million view counts on YouTube, becoming the 16th most watched video of all time on YouTube.

The music video, released on April 13, has collected over 406,000 clicks and 2.3 million likes.
Along with reaching the new landmark, the video surpassed Bruno Mars' "The Lazy Song" which is just shy of 400 million in view counts.

Currently, Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know" stands in the fifteenth spot, just 7 million ahead of "Gentleman." It can be safely assumed that Psy's music video will pass Gotye's in the coming weeks as well.

Psy has three videos in the top 20 most watched YouTube videos of all time. "Gangnam Style" sits alone at the top at 1.6 billion views, while his rendition of "Gangnam Style" with 4minute's HyunA stands at number 20 with 350 million views.

[News] Psy gets another Guinness Record title

Psy has set his fifth Guinness Record!

On June 4th, Korea Record Institute announced, “The horse dance that Psy did with 100,000 Seoul citizens has been confirmed as the new world record title by Guinness World Records.”

The title of the record was decided to ‘Largest Gangnam Style Dance’, and Korea Record Institute said, “The fact Psy received a new Guinness Records title indicates that the record has been confirmed as an official world record.”

They added, “Now that the title was decided, we'll be providing the required videos, photos and other confirmation documents to receive the official Guinness World Records certificate.”

The record came last year on October 4th, where Psy held a free concert at Seoul City hall. On that day, approximately 100,000 people had attended and danced to “Gangnam Style” in unison.

[News] Psy Promotes Korea Via Advertisement on CNN, National Geographic, YouTube

Over the last year or so, Psy has become the face of Korea for many people in the world who have come across the relatively small country in Asia not as well known as China and Japan via "Gangnam Style" and "Gentleman." Psy will now utilize his popularity across the globe to promote the nation of Korea, encouraging tourism, raising more awareness and putting Korea on the global map, so to speak.

Beginning today, Psy's advertisement of various Korean attractions will air on CNN, CCTV, National Geographic, and, of course, YouTube, where Psy is pretty familiar with.

The video, titled Psy's WikiKorea, is a series of six 15-second clips that describe popular attractions including ancient heritages and bustling nightlife.

A new website that works similar to user-operated Wikipedia, named ibuzzkorea.com, has been launched as well. Internet users are able to create and edit Korea-related contents on the website.
Regarding selecting Psy as the face to represent Korea, the Korea Tourism Organization stated, "Psy is one of the few common denominators across the globe today. He will be effective in transcending ethnicities, nationalities and cultural barriers to promote our national attractions to those on the other side of the planet."

H&M Get it Wrong With ‘Oppan Gangnam Style’ Shirts

H&M in the UK have started stocking Psy style shirts with the caption ‘Oppan Gangnam Style!’. The printed short sleeve shirt also has a picture of Psy on the front of it.

This probably isn’t the first time that the lyrics for Psy‘s ‘Gangnam Style’ has been slightly misinterpreted. Rylan Clarke did a short cover last year on X-Factor UK live shows and pronounced “Oppa Gangnam Style” as “Woopa Gangnam Style”.

The shirts at most UK H&M stores can be found in the men’s section and comes in a variety of sizes including small, medium and large. The shirt is priced at £9.99 if you are interested in buying one for yourself.
